Q: How do I get these presets onto my HX Stomp?
A: After purchasing, you will get an email with a folder containing the presets that you will download onto your computer. Connect your HX to your computer via USB cable, open HX Edit and choose File > Import Preset. Follow the prompts and you’ll be up and running in no time!
Q: Admission: I’ve never hooked up my HX to my computer. Can you help me?
A: Of COURSE. And no worries! Just download HX Edit from line6.com and connect your HX via USB cable to your computer. HX Edit will recognize your unit and you’ll be able to import / export presets, edit, name, create custom setlists etc. right on your computer! The interface is super simple and user friendly. I’m even a bit tech averse and I absolutely love it.
Q: I have an old firmware version on my HX Stomp. Will these presets still work?
A: Yes, but functionality might be limited. Be sure to update to the latest firmware at line6.com
Q: The presets won’t load! I’m getting an error message!
A: Don’t panic! This is almost always due to not running the most recent version of HX Edit. Head to line6.com and grab it for free.
Q: Will these presets work with my high output active bass?
A: Absolutely! Although they were built with a passive Fender style instrument in mind, if you’re getting nasty input clipping, you can easily toggle the Guitar Pad on in the input circle, change the compressor settings, or switch the inputs to line level in Global Settings.
Q: I use footswitch 3 on my HX Stomp as a tuner. Can I still use the tuner in this way with these presets?
A: Of course! Although I use all 3 footswitches in Stomp Mode for effects toggling in almost all the presets, you can choose to have the tuner and not have effect access to footswitch 3. (Hot tip: you can configure your Stomp like I do, utilizing all 3 footswitches and still access the tuner by simultaneously pressing the ACTION and PAGE > buttons)
Q: I noticed in a couple of the presets (IMA Sig for instance) you have blocks assigned to footswitches 4 and 5. But I have the HX Stomp and there is no footswitch 4 and 5. WHAT GIVES?!
A: I use an after market switch that sits atop the HX Stomp and plugs into the EXP jack giving you 2 additional stomp switches! You can assign them to be whatever you like. The switch is the Helauxy Duo Mini and it’s available at Pedalnetics.com. But even if you don’t have the additional switch you can always change what effects are on what footswitches in Bypass Assign.
Q: Why did you design these presets to be used in Stomp mode? Can I use them in Preset or Snapshot mode?
A: Of course! You can use them in whichever mode you prefer. I just happen to love using Stomp mode so I can toggle on / off different effects in a single preset scene. You’ll find there’s an amazing amount of variety with just ONE of my presets in Stomp mode.
Q: There are some “always on” blocks in a lot of the presets - like a compressor. What if I don’t like the settings or am already running a separate standalone compressor?
A: While double compression might not necessarily be a BAD thing, use your ears and feel free to tweak, turn off or delete blocks to your heart’s content!
Q: Can I buy just one preset a la cart?
